Tina Fey raps on Childish Gambino record

By Huntress Thompson

Like you needed another reason to crush on Tina Fey.

One of Donald Glover’s many, equally attractive alter-egos (Troy from Community, 30 Rock writer and Stand-up Comedy Genius among them) is rap sensation Childish Gambino.

Gambino released his album Royalty yesterday on his website for free download.

The last track on the album, Real Estate, features guest rapping from the final name in hardcore East Coast snarky bespectacled feminism, Tina Fey.

What I’m saying is, listen to this if you want to hear Tina Fey be even more awesome than we thought she was.

Sample lyric:
“THIS IS THE PART WHERE MOST PEOPLE WOULD SAY SOMETHING CRAZY
AND DROP THE N-WORD AFTER IT
NOT GOING TO
NOT GONNA DO THAT
I DON’T FEEL COMFORTABLE”

In the vacuum between dark and light, Siouxsie Sioux and Emmylou Harris, Amelie and Travis Bickle, Huntress Thompson is an idiot lost, and reporting from the field. If you’re after irrational, impassioned rants about cupcakes and Johnny Cash (and you probably aren’t), she’s grumpy, but she’s your girl.

  1. I don’t mean to be a killjoy, but I’m kinda disappointed. The ending was really funny, but it would have been much more epic if she rapped an actual verse, even if it was short. Sorry, I’m just tired of the Piss Take Rap trope. “We get it, you suck at rapping, can we move on? No? Damn.”
