With the announcement of this year’s Emmy nominees, we choose our perfect picks for Emmy glory in three categories.
Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series
Our pick: Two And A Half Men • Jon Cryer as Alan Harper
Look, as much as I love Charlie Sheen, imagine having to work with him for eight years. Then, imagine having to sit back and watch as he brands you a “turncoat, traitor and troll” on national TV… poor poor Jon Cryer – we’ve loved you since Duckie, you’ve always kind of stole the show for us.
The Big Bang Theory • Jim Parsons as Sheldon Cooper
Curb Your Enthusiasm • Larry David as Himself
House Of Lies • Don Cheadle as Marty Kaan
Louie • Louis C.K. as Louie
30 Rock • Alec Baldwin as Jack Donaghy
Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series
Our pick: New Girl • Zooey Deschanel as Jess Day
Only Zooey Deschanel can pull off making us love a character that’s sometimes so annoying you want to make her stand in a corner and face the wall. New Girl’s the best new comedy of the last few years. Zoeey Deschanel is one of the biggest reasons why. Also, she sometimes plays guitar with Joseph Gordon Levitt. Enough said.
Girls • Lena Dunham as Hannah Horvath
Mike & Molly • Melissa McCarthy as Molly Flynn
Nurse Jackie • Edie Falco as Jackie Peyton
Parks And Recreation • Amy Poehler as Leslie Knope
30 Rock • Tina Fey as Liz Lemon
Veep • Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Selina Meyer
Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series
Our pick: New Girl • Max Greenfield as Schmidt
Max Greenfield is a dad. He sometimes moonlights as a spinning instructor in LA. In between all of that, he somehow managed to create the best TV character of the year, a douchebag so loveable, you just can’t help but want to know him (see douchebags we love).
Modern Family • Ed O’Neill as Jay Pritchett
Modern Family • Jesse Tyler Ferguson as Mitchell Pritchett
Modern Family • Ty Burrell as Phil Dunphy
Modern Family • Eric Stonestreet as Cameron Tucker
Saturday Night Live • Bill Hader as various characters
Stay tuned for more…
Deanna spends her days buried in a jumble of words and her nights trying to balance family life and everything in between, all while doodling the name Grohl on her notepad and watching reruns of Supernatural. If it’s on TV, she’s seen it. If it’s the latest fad diet… she’s tried it. She’s got a lot to say.
