So, we all know and admit that the Star Wars prequels were less than amazing. BUT, Lucasfilm came to apologists’ rescue when it released the CG animated series, Clone Wars, which has been every bit as epic and amazing as any Star Wars fan would hope to be produced with modern special effects technology.
For the uninitiated, Clone Wars is set in the Star Wars universe, slap bang in the middle of the Clone Wars (as the name suggests) and follows Anakin Skywalker, Obiwan Kenobi, Padme Amadala and Anakin’s padawan, Asoka Tano.
More specifically, it’s set between Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Episode III: Revenge of the Sith so it gives you a lot of back story about characters that you’ve seen for brief moments in the prequels.
The series has improved substantially with each season, both in the quality of the animation and the stories being told. I’m currently eating my way through Season 4, which has already concluded in the US but hasn’t found its way to SA TV screens yet.
It’s just fantastic. And today I stumbled on the extended trailer for Season 5. Oh my nerdy sack. I cannot wait for this.
