Mummy and me: Stay-at-home dads

By Deanna Campbell

I have a thing for stay-at-home dads. I mean, how can you not?

These are men that are able to spend their days raising their kids with love and attention while simultaneously romancing their wives and oozing ounces of manly sex appeal. At least, that’s what I imagine they are…

I base my theory on my two favourite stay-at-home dads.

Chris Brinkley

I know, I know… he’s not a ‘real’ person. Still, Chris manages to maintain a happy home while mopping up baby drool and doing the laundry. Also, it’s Will Arnett – enough said.

Brent Jordan

This one’s for real. I first found out about the lovely Brent Jordan from his equally amazing wife, Melissa, whose blog, Dear Baby, was a much-needed source of info and laughs during my pregnancy. I still follow the tales of the extraordinary Jordan family whenever I can and have found, through them, a true example of the fact that love and family will get you through anything.

In addition to spending his days taking care of beautiful Everly and Arlo, Brent also makes music. Beautiful music. Listen here. Read his tales of being a stay-at-home dad in his own words, here.

Also…he’s not too bad to look at either…

Deanna spends her days buried in a jumble of words and her nights trying to balance family life and everything in between, all while doodling the name Grohl on her notepad and watching reruns of Supernatural. If it’s on TV, she’s seen it. If it’s the latest fad diet… she’s tried it. She’s got a lot to say. Be warned.
